Schweizer previously served as Whole Foods Market’s Executive Global Grocery Coordinator, where he helped bring more than 6,000 new products to the U.S. marketplace, and assisted dozens of brands in becoming household names. In his new role with Demeter, Schweizer will focus on expanding Biodynamic support and awareness amongst retailers, brands, farmers, and consumers about the tremendous benefits of Biodynamic food production for farms, for people, and for our planet. King Estate Winery in Eugene, Ore., is now officially “in conversion” to Biodynamic status. The process should be complete later this year, making King Estate, at 1,033 acres (465 planted with grapes, or under vine), the largest Biodynamic vineyard in the United States and one of the largest in the world.

Winderlea® Vineyard and Winery, a boutique winery specializing in the limited production of Pinot noir and Chardonnay from Oregon, announced today that they have earned Demeter Biodynamic® Certification for both farming and winemaking for their 16.5 acre estate in the Dundee Hills. At the same time, Winderlea earned Organic Certification by Stellar Certification Services under the US National Organic Program for both farming and winemaking. Winderlea Vineyard becomes the 59th vineyard and 29th US winery to earn Demeter certification.
