Demeter Economic Development Committee

Originally established as an independent group of volunteer-professionals, the group formerly known as the Biodynamic Economic Working Group has agreed to serve on a standing committee within Demeter; the Economic Development Committee. They will support Demeter’s small staff with strategic development, planning, and fundraising. Their charter has been formally approved by the Demeter Board.

Purpose: The Economic Development Committee (EDC) is a standing volunteer committee that supports Demeter leadership and staff to cultivate a healthy marketplace for Demeter-certified Biodynamic products, in support of Demeter’s mission of enabling people to farm successfully according to Biodynamic practices and principles. 

To cultivate a healthy marketplace, the EDC strives to strengthen the Demeter brand, grow consumer awareness, expand opportunities for certified producers, and develop Demeter’s internal capacity for economic work.
